BrowserSDR: a radio receiver in a browser tab
Notes on building a local software-defined radio interface with a live spectrum, waterfall, recording and replay.
Why put a radio in the browser?
BrowserSDR is a local software-defined radio receiver that runs in the browser. It brings live spectrum and waterfall views together with recording and replay. The goal was to be up and running with your hardware in seconds not hours. This can also work on systems where you might have limited user rights.
Connecting the hardware
The project explores WebUSB as the bridge between a radio receiver and a browser interface.
Seeing and hearing the signal
A live spectrum shows how signals are distributed across frequencies. The waterfall adds a history of those signals over time. Recording and replay make it possible to return to a capture for another look.
Lessons from the public beta
BrowserSDR is available at browsersdr.com as a public beta.
